Building North Carolina’s Substance Use Disorder Workforce

The Governor’s Institute is committed to strengthening North Carolina’s substance use disorder workforce by expanding access to education, professional development, and financial support for current and future healthcare professionals.

Through scholarships, workforce initiatives, and strategic partnerships, we help reduce barriers to training while supporting the recruitment, retention, and continued development of professionals dedicated to improving the health and well-being of North Carolinians.

Scholarships

The Governor’s Institute offers scholarship opportunities, when available, to help offset the cost of educational programs, conferences, and professional development activities. These investments expand access to training and help ensure that professionals from diverse backgrounds and communities can participate in learning opportunities that strengthen North Carolina’s healthcare system.

Funds must be utilized in accordance with state policies and directed to the entity that is responsible for coursework delivery. Scholarship recipients will be chosen based on merit and need, on a first-come, first-served basis.  Individuals with a need for SUD specific credit hours (individuals with a CDAC; LCAS; or CCS) take priority.

Requests over $300 require a letter of recommendation from a current supervisor to be uploaded. You will be notified within 10 business days of acceptance into the Continuing Education Scholarship Program.
